From the Author

As with the previous book, Paws & Claws: A Three Dog Mystery, many of the characters are based on real animals and portions of the plot on real events. There is indeed a lost tribe of parrots in Chula Vista, Calif., and lucky residents often catch glimpses of them, especially in the summer months. The dog Princess was indeed rescued from the Bayfront Trolley Station and placed in a good home, and the police and K-9 Unit did bust up an illegal dog fighting ring in southern Chula Vista. While there is no proof that the 3 Dog Detective Agency played any role in the rescue of the parrots roosting in the ruins of the Vogue Theatre (another real location) or in the destruction of the dog fighting ring, there is likewise no evidence that they didn't; since Levi and the other operatives are notorious for trying their best to stay out of the spotlight...well, you just never know.

Review

You've got to appreciate a novel (with) references to the Bible, The Mothman Prophecies, the Thin Man movies and Jethro Gibbs from NCIS all in one package...The focus here is totally on the animals, with the human "companions" the merest shadow. A Flight of Raptors is a small gem for animal lovers. These are animals who live with the awareness of higher entities which guide their actions and philosophy of life.  -- Peggy Chittum     my-book-diary.blogspot.com/2013/07/a-flight-of-raptors-paws-claws-2.html

"There was an educational element to this novel, I learned quite a bit about dogs and various kinds of birds. There was also a spiritual element reinforcing the morality of the all the characters that I found intriguing and somewhat surprising. The author has created a world in which all animals believe in a higher being, and act based on a code of ethics and natural order. Because of this and the character development, I found that I was interested in a novel from the perspective of animals more than I anticipated I would."   --onlinebookclub.org
