About the Author:
Mahealani Harris Whose books are listed under her former name Mahealani Shellabarger Has written six novels depicting life in twentieth-century Hawaii revealing a society, richly blessed with the aloha spirit of romance, human drama, and the importance of ohana (family) set in the beautiful paradise of the Hawaiian Islands. Her writings reflect a time in Hawaii, reminiscent of a bygone era, interwoven with romantic ventures and a glimpse at the uniqueness of Hawaiians and a distinctive culture from her perspective. The novels include two series: "Lanikai" and its sequel "Lanikai Flowers" and "Kahala Sun" and its continuation in "Children of Kahala Sun" and "The Waimea Gathering" Her latest novel, "The Sons of Kamuela" is the only present day story of four brothers who meet for the first time at the reading of their father's will. The setting is the North Shore of Oahu on a ranch in Pupukea where they are required to live for a year in order to inherit a vast fortune. Born in Kalihi as Mahealani Harris, raised in Lanikai, O'ahu and a graduate of Kamehameha Schools, she returned after many years of living in Santa Barbara, California to her home state of Hawai'i and resides in Waimanalo on the island of O'ahu.
