Karezza (from the Italian for "caress") is a Western spiritual practice analogous to Tantric techniques of orgasm control, without involving Eastern cultural or iconographic references. In this classic work, Dr. Stockham shows that Karezza develops strong and disciplined men, respect and reverence for women, and better relationships between the sexes. For the man's point of view, William Lloyd describes in detail how a man puts Karezza into practice, pleasing his lover while maintaining his vitality.

Dr. Alice Bunker Stockham (1833-1912) was an obstetrician and gynecologist from Chicago and the fifth woman to become a doctor in the United States. A well-traveled and well-read person, Dr. Stockham counted among her friends Leo Tolstoy and Havelock Ellis. She visited India and Sweden, and from her trips she brought back the idea of teaching children domestic crafts, thus establishing home economics classes in the United States. John William Lloyd (1857-1940) was a writer on political and spiritual subjects, whose life changed after an awakening to cosmic consciousness.
