Synopsis

The year is 2053. Ainsling Reid is a girl with a singular dream- to be normal. When she is selected for surgery to cure her epilepsy and rid her of the seizures causing her to be labeled “unproductive,” she believes her dream is about to come true.Li Griffin has no dreams. When Li is assigned to be Ainsling’s caretaker at the Clinic, their lives are changed forever. Despite their extreme differences, they share much in common- missing mothers, lonely hearts…and a red string. Pulling on the ends of the rope in the tug-of-war between fate and free will, they learn that dreams can let you down, that the best thing one can do is hold on to something bigger, and simply wait for a rescue.

D. Marie Prokop was born in Pennsylvania. Her favorite fiction authors include Madeline L'Engle, Pearl S. Buck, and C.S. Lewis. She enjoys reading and writing stories with double meanings, spiritual relevance, and enlightening cultural flavors.
The National Novel Writing Month challenge helped D. Marie discover her love for writing fiction. Her YA Science Fiction trilogy, Days of the Guardian, began from her Nanowrimo endeavors. She has also published short works of fantasy and children's stories.
A singer-songwriter and avid knitter, D. Marie and her family reside in Houston, Texas, along with two cats, her beloved ukelele, and much yarn.

Li Griffin has no dreams. He barely graduated high school due to anti-social conduct. Now he is stuck working at his father's Clinic, where he clashes with an important patient.

Despite their blatant differences, these two teens will find much in common- missing mothers, lonely hearts...and a red string. Dreams disappear and change, leaving them to wonder if the better thing is to hold on to something bigger.
