9781492995821: Pilgrims of Episteme: Story of the Scientific Method

Science is not a dead collection of facts but a constantly developing body of knowledge whose progress is due to the spirit of science and the scientific method. The author’s passion for science, history and philosophy drives this narrative about the method of science and how it evolved from the time of the ancient Greeks to the present day. Eager to impart his love of learning to his son Sid, Ken invents a time machine that takes the father and son duo on an exciting journey to the past where they meet scientists and philosophers considered to be the greatest influence on the method of science. The reader will learn that the evolution of the scientific method is a human endeavour full of great leaps and also huge blunders. As well as being an entertaining and informative read – full of anecdotes and surprising asides -this book is also intended as an educational resource for the student of science.
