STEVE PITKIN (Rockford, IL) began his photographic career documenting diverse collections of historic scientific instruments, fine art, and rare timepieces relating to the history of science. Pitkin s love of music is deeply rooted from childhood, playing guitar and searching for the perfect instrument from the age of twelve. Rick Nielsen, lead guitarist of Cheap Trick and 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, invited Pitkin to photograph his world famous guitar collection in 1992. The work gained broad recognition and, in 1995, Fender commissioned Pitkin to photograph its Fender Custom Shop, Guitar Gallery. The Fender Custom Shop calendar, exclusively illustrated with Pitkin images, has since enjoyed over two decades of worldwide acclaim.
