Synopsis

The African-American Civil Rights Movement was a mass movement to end racial segregation and discrimination against African Americans during a crucial period of history when socio-political changes were sweeping the United States. Starting with the brief overview of African American experience in the New World, this book explores the factors that led the start of the Civil Rights Movement at a particular juncture in time. The book analyses the peaceful evolution of the movement using tactics such as boycotts, sit-ins, and marches and the laudable social and legal victories that it achieved.
