Steven Taylor, a professional web and mobile application developer, began his career during the “Dotcom Boom” of the late 1990s. Since then he has designed hundreds of sites for countless clients, and founded SteveWare Labs, a successful web application and rich-media company located in Maui, Hawaii. He is also co-founder and Chief Technical Officer of the Yoga Learning Center, an innovative online yoga instruction site, CEO of Web Schools International, and author of Web Design from the Ground Up with XHTML, CSS and Web Graphics. And he plays the banjo, too.

Reviewed by Lisa Jones for Readers' Favorite Fire Your Web Guy by Steven V. Taylor is a book that explains how to build and create your own website. Taylor has written the instructions in a step by step format which is clear and concise. He uses Wordpress as a building platform and it quickly becomes clear that it could save people a great deal of money. There are links provided throughout the book for help and advice, as well as clear diagrams to complement the instructions. The author also explains how to rejuvenate a pre-existing website, which I found most interesting. There is also the option of creating an e-commerce site if required. Steven V. Taylor has covered the necessary steps to creating a website with Wordpress. Fire Your Web Guy is unique as I felt that everything was explained well. The diagrams and references definitely helped and I think that even my parents would be able to understand the jargon. The author has taken the time to cover every different concept, from web hosting to e-commerce. I feel that this book would be beneficial to many and it would also save the reader a small fortune. There was also a chapter that provides an in-depth look at Paypal and how to set up an account to link to an e-commerce site. Taylor, it would seem, has thought of everything. He is obviously a very talented man and I especially liked the fact that he has used his skills and knowledge to create this book for the benefit of others.
