EXCERPTS FROM CHAPTER ONE
Satan knew the future and, often, there was little that he could do to change it but he tried. Oh, how he tried! "Baal! Go get me Hans Krause from his place in the lake of molten lava."
"Hans? the serial killer of women and children?"
"Yes, That very one."
...............The Devil said, "Hans, I have a little job for you. I am sending you back to the Germany of five years ago. You are to join the newly formed Nazi party and work your way into Hitler's elite SS (Schutzstaffel, or defense corps) and thence into the Waffen SS that is assigned to the Dachau Concentration Camp. I will handle the details to get you there."
"Once there, you will go to Barracks 500 and retrieve from space 500-36 one Muriel Cohen. You will then take her to some isolated place, assault her, and kill her. I know that you are good at this so get to it. When you return you will be rewarded."
When Hans left, Satan explained to his pal Baal (sometimes called, in the Bible, Beelzebub ) that Muriel was the be the mother of the mother of a child that would cause them no end of trouble. So, he would try to snuff out the whole line............
EXCERPTS FROM CHAPTER FOUR
Kate (was thinking about)... the sacrament of matrimony. It was in this state of mind that she answered the doorbell... Standing there was a interesting looking little man in a brown suit and a derby hat... Kate was horrified when she heard herself invite this total stranger into the house but, for.. some strange reason, she was certain that he would do her no harm...He said, "I know that this seems strange but I promise you that it is far less weird than that night when the angel appeared to the blessed Mary. My name is Samuel.....
"Get to it then." Said Kate. "Why are you here and what's up?"
(Samuel said) "First, lets say a little prayer together. You know this one...
"Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death."
Kate followed along and, with eyes wide, said, "Did you come to tell me that I am going to die!?"
"Nope," said Samuel, "The other thing."
"What other thing?"
The ...blessed is the fruit of thy womb thing."
"That can't be, Sammy! I am engaged and still a virgin!"
(Samuel said) "So was Mary and she accepted God's will, with grace, shall we say? To cut to the chase, Kate, the Armageddon is coming and the child of God is needed again. But, this time, it will be the Daughter of God, the sister of the Son of God. And you will be the mother....(of the Blessed Kimberly).

The novel, "The Elephant in the Phone Booth", and the other novel,"Starry Nights: Stories of the days with Jesus" are available from Amazon.com. Two more diverse books have probably never been written by one author. Starry Nights is a highly imaginative account of what it might have been like to be with Jesus in his time.
The Elephant pertains to problems that become too big to continue to ignore. Two plucky members of an alternative political system set out to overcome jihadists, environuts, union goons, and a corrupt political system to solve problems that today's legislators are unwilling to face. The hapless Abe is helped and impeded by strong women who are allies, warriors, and adversaries. They are lovers, friends, and fiends but all are as bright as a basket of lightbulbs and as creative as squirrels contemplating a backyard bird feeder. The characters in this story evolve in ways that surprise even the author but they represent women of the right, left, and far out.
If Armageddon is to be the battle between good and evil, does it not follow that the returning Child of God would be a warrior? And, might be a girl?
If, after 2,000 years, the message of peace and love has not protected the innocent from evildoers; might not God decide to try a different approach? More, Old Testament, shall we say? This might be an outrageous proposition but it could lead to a very interesting story. See Luke 22:36-38
Catholic readers might enjoy this book because of its Catholic backdrop. It might also interest protestants because it reveals much about those strange Catholics. Then too, we Catholics do not pay as much attention to the dangers of Satan as many of our Protestant brethren but "Saint Kimberly" is well aware of the dangers of the Evil One. This is the story of her fight with an all-too real Lucifer and the end times that Evangelicals pay more attention to than many of the more luke-warm Christians.
Since the name, "Saint Kimberly" appeared, unbidden, during mass; perhaps this story was meant to be written. What it all means, however, is something that readers will have to decide for themselves.
I must apologize to President Obama but the chronology that began in WW II and was driven by the growth of essential characters led Saint Kimberly to arrive at the elections of 2008 at a time when a different, and fictional, President was needed. There was no intention to unelect any of the many public officials that were replaced in this novel. Of course, they would not have wanted to be around to have to solve the problem of enemy tanks rolling down Pennsylvania Avenue.
My previous books: "Starry Nights; Stories of the Days with Jesus" and"The Elephant in the Phone Booth" are also available from amazon.com in both print and Kindle format. I guarantee that those of you who read any of my books will learn some true things that you did not know and some things that could not possibly be true. My only hope is that the experience was interesting.
