But no matter how often he tries he cannot seem to obtain the Red Sox slugger's card. But then he discovers that an older schoolmate--a bullying teen--has a Ted Williams card and is willing to trade. But Benji finds this potential deal leads him into discovering a sordid aspect of life. The tangled web of an illogical friendship pulls him deeper and deeper, causing danger for him and his family.

About the Author

Daniel O’Shields is a retired psychotherapist. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Ph.D in Counseling Education and has worked in his home state of South Carolina, in Colorado, and in Utah. He grew up in the Union Mill village in the 1950s and this has provided him with a personal interest in documenting and retaining as many authentic stories as possible of the disappearing mill village culture. His publications include an article about the shady porches built on front of every one of the small, attractive Craftsman mill village houses, a short story about drivers delivering groceries to mill village families, and the true exploits of a successful Little League baseball team drawn from the tiny mill villages. Daniel O’Shields now lives in his native Union, SC. with his wife, Kathy. Much of his retirement is spent watching birds and fighting a hopeless battle against wily squirrels.
