She completed her B.A. in History with Elementary Teaching Licensure, and within five years earned her Master's in Education, both degrees from University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Eugenia worked in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for 19 years as a teacher, resource coordinator and administrator. For two years, she worked for North Carolina Department of Public Instruction assisting 17 school districts with staff development for instruction. Eugenia earned her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2000. She rounded out her work with public schools as an Associate Superintendent in two school districts, Stanly County Schools and Scotland County Schools. After leaving public schools, Dr. Baker worked at University of North Carolina at Pembroke for a year and St. Andrews Presbyterian College for 21/2 years, helping future teachers see the importance of developing a learning environment where all children succeed.
