Synopsis

The 2016 election proves disastrous for the United States, with the majority demanding handouts rather than restoring the nation to its former greatness. In the aftermath, corruption and crime rates soar, while an obsessively isolationist policy destroys the country's standing as a super power.

Or do they? In a calculated, greed-based move, the IPAB directors devise a plan: hire home invaders to beat "unprofitable" individuals to the point of death, refuse them life-saving medical treatments, and then harvest and sell their organs.

Cole Tutor, formerly of the Army Special Forces, just fell victim to the IPAB's scheme. But unbeknownst to both Cole and the IPAB, his body houses an advanced alien secret—a secret which pits Cole against forces determined to destroy his beloved country.

About the Author:

R. A. Benton retired from the US Air Force after twenty-seven years of service. In his last year-long deployment to Iraq he earned a Bronze Star.

At fifty years of age, Benton lives with his wife, two daughters, two female dogs, and three female cats, all of whom constantly remind him how little he knows about women. He loves them all dearly and believes family, human or animal, is the most important thing in the world.

The Power Within is Benton's first novel. While writing, he drew on his military and martial arts training, as well as his vivid imagination.
