The past just won’t stay buried in Ronald Myres’s wickedly funny debut novel, Bodies in the Rye.
Dallas billionaire Hank Milam spends an inordinate amount of time juggling his complicated love life. While his ex-wife owns a chainsaw and isn’t afraid to use it, his current wife prefers trying to stab or shoot him—but only when he deserves it, which is more often than not. Meanwhile, his lesbian mistress has a fascination for all things dangerous...Hank included.
But Hank’s depraved world is about to get a whole lot darker with the arrival of two brothers who are hell-bent on seeking revenge for the murder of their older sibling—a murder in which Hank might or might not have played an important part.
Although Hank feels confident he can fend for himself, his belief is shaken when he realizes that the brothers aren’t targeting him at all...but are instead channeling all of their brutal plans onto Hank’s beloved teenage daughter Jennifer.
Will Hank find a way out of this predicament before Jennifer pays the price?
This darkly comic tale of love and revenge revels in the absurd even as it pushes readers to the edge of their seats.
