About the Illustrators

Susan Cathcart inhaled new York City for 30 years as an advertising MadWoman. She now does caricatures in Wilmington, DE with a plant that thrives on neglect. Marilyn Kane is a sea captain who worked out of Key West helping landlubbers catch sailfish. She now lives in Rehoboth Beach with her wonderful husband and a dog named Sam. Cathcart and Kane met in a thrift shop 30 years ago and have been collaborating ever since. They can be reached at cathcart23@verizon.net.

Over the years, I have developed a deeper relationship with my Angels, and I know they "walk with me." Asking for angelic guidance has become a spiritual practice. For example, when I was a child, our family had a tradition of sitting down a few moments before setting out on a trip. No one knew where this practice originated, but we did "religiously." When I learned about the Jewish traveler's prayer, T'filat Ha-Derech, I discovered it contains a statement from Exodus 23:23, that God will send an Angel in front of the Israelites to guard them on their way. I now understand that putting down before a trip provides an opportunity for Angelic alignment. As an intentional spiritual practice, I ask the angels to accompany me on a journey. I have taught this tradition to my children.
