Synopsis

Circa July-August, 1996 - San Fernando Valley, California… Newly retired from the Valley West Homicide unit, Len Morgan's attempt to become a Private Investigator gets off to a rocky beginning starting with the assassination of his longtime friend and new business partner, Nguyen Pham “Fast Eddie” Ky. Subsequently, Len finds himself pursuing two adversaries: gangster Emilio Ramos and 'Lotus Blossom', a female assassin, with each wishing to kill off the other. Ultimately, he rejoins the official investigative ranks at the Valley West Police Department in a newly formed Major Crimes Unit, teaming up with his former partner and long-time best friend, Jeff Robinson, along with two veteran homicide detectives recently drafted from the LAPD Major Crimes force. This tale takes the reader to Vietnam, Colorado, southern Texas and Mexico in a maddening sequence of bizarre events, though seemingly unrelated, finally come together.

About the Author

In 2001 I retired as a project superintendent from the commercial construction field and decided to fulfill a life's ambition-- to write detective-fiction novels. I'd had the urge to write for the entirety of my life. In high school, one of my literature teachers suggested that I consider a career in journalism. Being a skeptical type it took me several decades, but I accepted his advice in part; A Scent of Suspicion was the result. First published in 1999, it was the initial full-length detective-fiction novel in the Detective Len Morgan series. I've also written and e-published a political, current events book. titled Prodigious Political Ponderings and Prognostications.
