During a night of boring television I began channel hopping to find something interesting to watch as I sprawled on the couch like the proverbial potato once again. By chance I stumbled upon a gardening programme called Gardeners world on the BBC and became interested in a piece being presented by the host Monty Don on vegetable growing.
