This engaging memoir comprises one hundred highly entertaining anecdotes from the long and interesting life of James Forney. Each is a stand-alone story. But together they portray a life well lived and illustrate how, with enough tenacity and resilience, you too can escape the monotony of an ordinary life.

Starting with his education and early preparations for life, Jim’s World spans the author’s successful careers as an advertising and magazine photographer, magazine writer, entrepreneur who creates and builds a niche business making special parts for experimental aircraft, aviator, computer guru, and world traveler. It is not a chronicle of his life, but rather a collection of the most memorable moments.

These anecdotes are filled with adventure, aviation exploits, travel, and an inspiring recovery from disaster, when an arson fire destroys the business he had built from the ground up. However the book also goes beyond the adventurous aspects, focusing on the little things such as interactions with people and cultures that have enriched Forney’s life journey.

In Jim’s World, great storytelling meets great stories to tell, creating a synergy that will inspire you to get out there, take some chances, and follow your own dreams!

About the Author:

The son of a pre-WWII army officer, James Forney attended seven schools before finishing fifth grade. He went on to study journalism at the University of Iowa, graduating from the Rochester Institute of Technology. After working at Eastman Kodak as an advertising photographer, he launched a freelance career in magazine photography and writing.

With an interest in flying, he started a small company making special parts for experimental aircraft that grew into a computer-controlled machining plant with some thirty employees—until it was destroyed by a fire. This led him to earn a commercial pilot’s license, a certified flight instructor’s license, and eventually, a transport pilot’s license that allowed him to work for a small airline.

With the advent of the PC, he began writing for computer magazines. In addition, he has taught college-level courses at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and traveled the world extensively.
