Kyi May Kaung came to the United States in the early 1980s on a Fulbright Fellowship and was unable to return after the failure of the 1988 pro-democracy demonstrations. She subsequently switched her field of study from transportation economics to Political Economy and wrote her dissertation on the pathologies of tyrannical systems. This is her 8th story collection in 2 years and she was a Pew Finalist in Literature twice. Her play/ Shaman was praised by Edward Albee. Her novel Wolf is upcoming.
