About the Author:
Alfred de Vigny wurde am 27.03.1797 in Loches geboren; er starb am 17.09.1863 in Paris. Er stammte aus einer französischen Adelsfamilie. Seine Kindheit und Jugendjahre verbrachte er ab 1798 in Paris. Er besuchte das Lycée Bonaparte und trat 1814 als Fähnrich in den Dienst von Ludwig XVIII. 1825 heiratete er eine wohlhabende Engländerin und konnte sich beurlauben lassen, um ganz seinen literarischen Interessen zu leben, ehe er 1827 endgültig den aktiven Dienst quittierte. Nach der Februar-Revolution 1848 versuchte er, als Abgeordneter in die Politik zu gehen. Quelle: Wikipedia
