"Life is so unpredictable and illogical," says Rita, referring to the inspiration for her novel. "You have ajob you really like. You work 50-60 hours a week without overtime pay becauseyou're salary, but you still get laid off. Or you finally find someone youcould love the rest of your life and then, he/she moves on to someone elsewithout a second thought of you. Or your friend who maintains a healthylifestyle dies at 40 from cancer, but your other friend who is a heavy drinkerand chain-smoker lives to 80. Why? Is God playing a board game with everyone's life?"
From the Inside Flap:
Dear Reader,
Until adulthood, my religious beliefs came from my parents and eight years of Catholic education. As a teenager, my friends had other religious beliefs and we would discuss them. However, our friendship was based on who the person was (e.g. kindness, personality, sincerity, interests, etc.) not on what church we attended or what religious philosophies we followed.
While in college, I took a course call Approaching Religion to learn more about other religions. I found it extremely interesting. After graduating, I continued researching various religions.
All the years of reading and researching has made me wonder. Would the world be a better place if everyone just followed the good advice from the two quotes on the next page?
"From Hell to Heaven" is about God, Lucifer, heaven, hell and ordinary people. It is fiction and the work of my imagination.
I hope you will enjoy reading my novel, "From Hell to Heaven".
Best Wishes,
Rita
