By starting with the scientific phenomena, you'll be intrigued and excited to dig deeper into the why’s and how’s of each scientific concept. This book is a unit of study on Bones, Muscles, & Nerves geared to a middle school audience (grades six through eight). From dissections to muscle fatigue to reflexes, this captivating book will introduce you to the fascinating world of bones, muscles, and nerves. If you’ve always wondered why your vision rarely blurs, how we keep our balance, or how your bones compare to those of a bird, this book will help solve the mysteries! Beautifully illustrated and well laid out, this book is easy to use from the very first page. Experiments are clearly laid out and written to the student so they do not need to be pre-digested by a teacher before beginning. I started as a high school physics teacher before spending ten years at the Smithsonian writing educational materials for the National Air and Space Museum. Later our family helped to start a school for which I wrote the science curriculum. When seventh grade was added, I joined the faculty teaching middle school science and absolutely loved it! Now I write full time and volunteer in the classroom often. Curriculum development, a common thread throughout my career, is still a favorite pastime.
