In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, One God, Amen. I would first like to thank God Almighty for allowing me the opportunity to prepare this book. This book is aimed for the Eritrean and Ethiopian youth born and raised in the native language. It is not only limited to the Eritrean and Ethiopian youth but to anyone interested and eager in learning to write."Metshaf Fidel Ge'ez" translated in the Tigrinya and Amharic language means Ge’ez letter book. Ge’ez was the major language of ancient Eritrea and Ethiopia. Today, even though Ge’ez is not used primarily to communicate its alphabet is used in Tigrinya and Amharic. To simplify reading and grasp understanding the pages in the chapters are all written using Ge'ez letters. Also, to do proper and accurate handwriting, it took intense and diligent effort in illustrating every single letter, number, and punctuation. Divided into three chapters you will find that the first two chapters of this book are letters and added letters. The last chapter consists of numbers and punctuations; the numbers which are written in Ge'ez are mostly used in the church. Although we pray to learn our language one day whether it be Tigrinya, Amharic, or Ge’ez, I hope in the meantime my effortless time and research in preparing the illustrated characters for the youth may go a long way. May the Holy Lord enlighten our hearts, hear our prayers, and help us in learning Ge'ez.
