Synopsis

Gardens are a beautiful and satisfying addition to any landscape. And while mountainous terrains provide their own gardening challenges, you can overcome them with some hard work, an appreciation of the beauty of the mountains, and the compulsion to enhance and beautify your natural surroundings. You will face some setbacks and disappointments, but with a little persistence, you can create a beautiful garden that will last you for years to come.

In Blue Ridge Mountain Gardening, author Mike McLeod shares the wisdom and insight he has gained from over thirty years of developing his own garden plots in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Focusing on four principles that center on the use of compost, using native plants, utilizing plants recommended by local professionals, and choosing foliage for year-round color, this detailed book also provides keen insight into irrigation, freeze damage, plant diseases, flower recommendations, and much more.

Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned professional, this remarkable work—illustrated with stunning photographs—is required reading for anyone living in hilly or mountainous areas who wants to build and maintain a beautiful garden.
