THE REAL YOU IS HIDDEN FROM VIEW. You are a spiritual being with a soul, mind and heart hidden in a material soul with a mind and heart. It is very important that you understand the concept of soul. The soul is used in the Hebrew and Greek to identify the total person. Your person, or personality, what you like and dislike, what your believe, how you think, your behaviors, your talents and gifts, in other words, the sum total of your life experiences in this life develops your soul. In Vines Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words, soul and heart are rendered the same. Heart is defined as first the chief organ of physical life, occupying the most important place in our human bodies. But it also transitioned to stand for the entire mental and moral activity of man, both the rational and the emotional elements. “In other words, the heart is used figuratively for the hidden springs of the personal life.” The Hebrew contrasts two other concepts which are not found in the Greek and Latin tradition: “the inner self” and “the outer appearance”, or, as viewed in a different context, “what one is to oneself” as opposed to “what one appears to be to one’s observers.” The principle of the “seen” and the “unseen”, citizens of earth and citizens of heaven. Also the “inner self” is the spiritual soul and the “outer appearance” is our material soul. The inner soul refers to the invisible, immaterial, deathless spirit that God breathed into us that caused the material soul to become a living soul or a speaking spirit. The outer appearance or the exterior soul is seen by humans, and it can take on different characteristics that cleverly disguises the truth or the true soul or person that cannot be observed with human vision. The Concept: We are singularly spiritual beings with a mind and heart and material beings with a brain and heart. The soul encompasses our entire person, it is us formed from our life’s experiences and how they have informed and conformed our beliefs. Beliefs govern our actions and behaviors. This is why Jesus came to save our souls – soul encompasses our entire being – it is all of us our complete self – body, soul and spirit. Humans do not have a soul we are souls. Souls that reside in the heavenly realm and the earthly realm; as spiritual souls and as material souls. The spiritual soul is eternal, immaterial and invisible and is of heaven, the material soul is temporal, physical, material and visible and is of the earth. Humans have a fleshly mind and a spiritual mind, a fleshly heart and a spiritual heart. God created both to work synergistically but the fall caused a rift and a separation between the two because then humans could choose and had an intimate knowledge of what is good and what is evil. They chose evil and Genesis declares their thoughts were evil continuously. God grieved that He had made man and destroyed all living beings and living things, only reserving eight souls to begin the human race anew. Adam and Eves’ disobedience meant that God had to separate Himself from us because of sin. This meant instead of being spiritually connected to God in Heaven we become materially and physically connected to the cosmos in which Satan rules, this earthly and fleshly realm. It is the unit or individual spirit that IS clothed with a physical body that as we live develops into who we become. There is not one soul that is alike. Souls have no color or gender. Of the billions upon billions of souls born and formed since Creation, not one is exactly the same.
