Wesley Chaplin began his Wudang Tai chi education more than 15 years ago in China at Grandmaster Zhong Yunlong's school, atop the Wudang Mountains in Hubei Province, in central China. While there he studied under Masters Zhong Xuechao, Zhong Xueyong, and Yuan Xiugang, eventually becoming the first foreign disciple under Master Yuan. During the five years he resided there, Wesley registered at the Purple Mist Temple (Zi Xiao Gong) and was given the Daoist name Yuan Li Hao . Upon leaving the Wudang Mountains, Wesley continued his studies in traditional practices within southern China for another ten years before expanding his knowledge base to include other traditional health practices from throughout Asia. Wesley Chaplin also has a degree in Chinese culture and philosophy from the University of Illinois - Chicago.
