Want to live a long, happy life? Yes! Want to grow old? NO!! Let’s face it. You really can’t hope to experience a long, happy life without growing older. But here’s the problem: for most of us, our mental picture is not too pretty of life beyond (fill in the blank with whatever age you think is “old”). And over 80, 90 or 100? The image is even worse. We love the idea of living a long, happy life, but no one wants to grow OLD. Old age scares the heck out of us. "Happy Healthy...Dead: Why What You Think You Know About Aging Is Wrong, and How To Get It Right" shows you what sets apart those who are enjoying life in their later years from those who lament their every waking moment. It includes extensive scientific research proving how vital our current thoughts, emotions and attitudes are to our ability to experience a long, healthy future, plus real life examples of seniors living happily in their 80s, 90s and beyond. Finally, the book explains what you need to do to assure a long, fulfilling, healthy life. Our time on Earth may be finite, but nowhere is it written that our last 10, 20 or 30 years must be spent in decline and misery! Why not make sure you’re on the right path, right now, that will bring you the most happiness, health and longevity?

Noelle C. Nelson, PhD--psychologist, consultant and international speaker--is passionate about personal growth, happiness and appreciating this amazing experience called "life." She's authored over a dozen books, all of which are grounded in the idea that the more you value yourself, others, and the world around you, the happier, healthier and more successful you will be. Dr. Nelson's books have been endorsed by such well-known authors as Louise Hay, John Gray, and Stephen R. Covey. She's a regular contributor to The Huffington Post.
It's a fact of life that we get older. When we stop getting older, we'redead. Maybe instead of fighting the aging process, we could enjoy it a lot moreby embracing aging and using some simple but powerful techniques. Perhaps achange in thinking as well as in how we behave would be helpful.
It's really encouraging that early in the book, we're given the names offolks who have accomplished a lot in what others would call their golden years:at 91 Henry Kissinger added another book to his dozen plus ones; Phyllis Suescelebrated her 92nd birthday in 2015 by dancing the Tango; she took up theTango and the trapeze at the age of 80; Dick Van Dyke starred in a music videoin 2015 at the age of 89; many other examples are given.
What do these folks have in common? According to the author, they are"happy, grateful, optimistic, and appreciative." She then goes on to give ussome great ideas about how to accomplish this by choices we make in our dailylives. Many of the concepts are found in other programs not specifically aimedat the concept of aging, but I like that she focused them specifically forolder adults.
No matter your age, this book is filled with ideas that can help you live along, fruitful, and happy life. The title, by the way, is taken from one ofAbraham's workshops where he stated this is the way to live: happy, healthy...dead!--New Spirit Journal
