Lisa (Pederson) Van Ahn is a professional boxer and kick boxer. She came to the art of fighting after the challenges of being bullied in junior high and high school left her feeling helpless and isolated. From the moment she kicked pads she loved it and trained for two years before deciding to fight in the ring. Lisa’s kickboxing career began in 1996 and she quickly rose to the top of her sport with a regional Championship title, then moved on to fighting professionally winning a national Kickboxing title in 2000. After winning, kickboxing title fights were more difficult to find, so she decided to take on the world of boxing. She boxed professionally in Las Vegas from 2001-2004 and fought on many prestigious cards including two featuring Laila Ali; at the Stratosphere, and the Philips Arena, ATL. She also appeared on ESPN’s Friday night fights and Fox Sports Net. In 2005 Lisa returned to Minneapolis and shortly after started fighting with the US kickboxing team competing internationally and representing the US. She earned the title of North American champion and brought home a bronze medal from the Pan American games in 2012. In 2015 she tackled a different challenge entirely and competed on American Ninja Warrior. Lisa has a deep desire to save other girls from the torture she felt growing up and realized there was a need to empower young girls to believe in themselves and their talents, so she created an inside out self-defense program called the I Am Initiative. She works with girls and women teaching them the rules of self-defense and self-love through her online materials as well as in person workshops and retreats.
