Reflections on Becoming

From the Author:
The idea for this project came to me while I was on a silent retreat. A teacher was giving a talk and he kept saying the word 'Metamorphosis" over and over again. For whatever reason, this word caught my interest. As I reflected on that, I really began thinking about the drastically changing landscape of my own life as a result of the transformational practices that I had been immersing myself in over some time - practices that had opened my heart and my mind in ways that surprised me on a daily basis.

Less than a week later, my mother died unexpectedly and, in the following months, I would find myself in depths of grief and despair that I could never have imagined. My meditation time became centered on Loving-Kindness practice...Metta...repeating phrases of care to myself and to all sentient beings over and over again...because I simply couldn't bear the silence of my normal routine.

Metta - Lovingkindness
Morph - to change or transform
Osis - denoting a process or condition

The process of transformation through lovingkindness is what inspired this collection. Transforming pain, transforming grief, transforming fear, transforming anger. The practice holds me, comforts me, and just keeps saving me. And my heart nearly explodes with the gratitude of it all.
