About the Author

I first tried to write a novel when I was about 14 years oldbut someone found my "manuscript" and made fun of me so, completely humiliated,I abandoned my attempt to be an author. 43 years later I took early retirementand found that I had the time to try again and have since published 3 novels. Myfirst two books were Science Fiction of the thought provoking kind; notmonsters and space battles, but my latest novel, Apple for the Teacher, is a completechange in genre for me, with different and interesting challenges.
For some reason that I do not understand I needed totalsilence to write science fiction but preferred to have music playing whenwriting my murder mystery. I can onlywrite when I am alone and definitely cannot have anyone talking even if it ison the TV.
For many years, when I was single, I sculpted using wirearmatures and plaster but sculptures take up a great deal of space and when Imarried my wife was not keen on all the dust, so I turned to oil painting. Aswith my writing I do not stick to one subject but switch between differentideas. I have put my more saleable paintings on Etsy but have not sold any yet!
My wife and I love walking and it was on these walks thatthe seeds of ideas for each of my books germinated. We also love to travel; wehave completed many road trips in the USA and have covered New Zealand in acamper van. I have stayed in a mud hut in northern Thailand and a cabin in thejungles of Guatemala.
