About the Author:
Margaret Wilson Quinn came into young adulthood during the Civil Rights era. Born in a small industrial town in southwest, Ohio she only experienced subtle racism however, when she traveled to the south to spend summer vacations with her cousins in North Carolina there she found 'in your face racism'. She developed a love of books early in her childhood. Margaret was an only child and her best friends were those she met in books. The older members of her families told stories about the old days to the children to keep their ancestry alive. She loved to listen. Educated at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio Margaret started her teaching career in her hometown. She later taught school in Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina. After retiring she decided to do what she always wanted and that was to be a storyteller. Margaret began as a historical interpreter at Atlanta History Center's, Atlanta Heritage Row. There she told Atlanta's story with passion. Her next assignment was The Lower East Side Tenement Museum in lower Manhattan where she brought the immigrant story alive. She is a mother, grandmother and great grand mother writing poetry and short stories; while enjoying her best life.
