Synopsis

Young Seth Kish of the Elf Borderlands has already overcome staggering odds to succeed in his quest to find "Fire," an ancient red gemstone containing the most potent magic of his race. But when Seth discovers that the ruby is more than a magical device, he must contend with the consequences of his success as he struggles to unlock its secrets and use its powers.

Meanwhile, Seth's accomplishment has alerted the genocidal sorcerer, Locke, to his whereabouts. Enraged that the stripling possesses some of the ancient magic he desires, Locke unleashes his armies to invade the southland realms, even as he redoubles his efforts to murder the elusive Seth. As Locke embarks on his own quest to find the two remaining magic talismans and place himself beyond the resistance of mortal hands, Seth uncovers the wizard's intentions. While Seth struggles to survive each new attempt on his life, it becomes apparent that there may be only one chance to thwart Locke. But it is a chance he must take alone.

In this third book of epic fantasy adventure, a young elf struggles to overcome terror and doubt and find the courage to confront a powerful wizard bent on destroying all that he loves.
