The following poems tell what is in the author's heart. Although the world we live in is going through great trials and tribulations, the worldview of Mr. Fili is a bright and positive one. Instead of focusing on the dark side of the world, as many unfortunately do nowadays, Mr. Fili looks at the positive side of every struggle that humanity faces; in doing so, he finds hope in the light of our past and present that can lead humanity to a better future. As it is evident from his poems, the author is inspired by the Qur’an and the hadith of Prophet (peace be upon him). Mr. Fili was able to reconcile the past with the present and find peace, harmony and hope through dedication and hard work. His endeavors to help humanity through voluntary work are his passion; reading and writing are his inspiration; radiating hope and spreading peace is his mission. Mr. Fili is not your average poet; he is an exception, among the poets of the highest caliber. He simply sings from his heart. Enjoy this great selection of his esteemed work!

Burhan Fili was born in Koplik, Albania, in 1949. At the time, Albania was under the Communist regime, which made the country prison-like. Young Burhan was left with two choices: to be cowed by an atheist regime or to break free. In 1976 he swam across Lake Shkodra reaching former Yugoslavia where he was caught, jailed and interrogated. After a month, however, he escaped to Italy where he spent 5 months in a refugee camp. In 1977 he entered the United States where he tried his best to adapt to the new life, working and studying at a university. In 1982 he went to Egypt where he studied Arabic and religion at the renowned Al-Azhar University. In 1987 he initiated an Albanian program broadcasted from Cairo, Egypt, for the Albanians in the Balkans. After the collapse of Communism in 1991, he returned to Albania where he contributed to the democratic life of his people. When the regime of Milosevic viciously attacked Kosova in 1999, he joined Mercy USA, a humanitarian organization, in order to help the refugees from Kosova. He still contributes to helping needy people in different parts of the world.
