For William, growing up poor, timid, and black in the South in the 1960s was no cakewalk. One of eight children, he struggled at school to break out of his shell and become confident. Well, he succeeded—and how. He became a womanizer, flirted with violence, and eventually ended up behind bars, serving a life sentence.

But that’s not where his story ends.

In a brutally honest and transformative memoir, William relates how tragedy changed his life forever when, at his lowest point, he finally had no choice but to look to God for the help—and grace—he so desperately needed.

You’ll experience prison life with William, but you’ll also be inspired by how he changed academically, emotionally, and spiritually while incarcerated. From fighting to stay alive in a violent atmosphere to taking the legal world by storm in an effort to commute his sentence, William is a testament to the power of prayer and faith in miracles.

Written over the course of twenty-five years, this memoir reminds us that if God is for us, failure isn’t an option. When the odds seem impossible to overcome, God will pull us out of darkness and into his marvelous light.

About the Author:

As a young child in elementary school I developed some writing skills through classroom subjects writing poems and later writing some poetry. At that time I didn’t realize that writing was a hidden love in my life.

Subsequent to my arrest, conviction and sentence, it didn’t take long for me to realize that I’d better try to do something to help myself. I obtained and studied as many law books as I could get my hands on, and eventually got a job in the prison’s law library assisting other inmates with their legal cases and prison disciplinary court. My writing skills enhanced tremendously through writing legal letters and other legal documents.

Upon my release from prison, my attorney hired me as a paralegal in his law office where my writing skills further developed, and I then realized how much I enjoyed writing. Giving Grace and Thanks to the Almighty.
