Publio Ovidio Nasón (latín: Publius Ovidius Naso; Sulmona, 20 de marzo del 43 a. C. - Tomis, actual Constanza, 17 d. C.) fue un poeta romano. Sus obras más conocidas son Arte de amar y Las metamorfosis, ambas en verso; la segunda recoge relatos mitológicos procedentes del mundo griego adaptados a la cultura latina de su época; también gozaron de cierta fama las Heroidas, cartas de grandes enamoradas, y sus Tristia, poemas elegíacos en que lamenta su destierro.

Ovidio (43 a.C. - 17 d.C.) Poeta latino. Educado en las artes de la política, Ovidio estudió en Roma y completó su formación en diversas ciudades del mundo griego, pero pronto abandonó la política para dedicarse por entero a la poesía, convertido en un hombre adinerado tras heredar la hacienda de su padre. Sus obras primeras fueron más desenfadadas, y ya en su madurez produjo La metamorfosis, sobre mitología y transformaciones.
