Hi, I'm Kait Fennell. You're probably wondering how I came up with this idea of 251 Things to Do in Tofino?
I'm an obsessive surfer who has lived in Tofino for the past four years. I've been working in the service tourism sector; which helped me have free time to surf and travel. Since becoming a resident of Tofino, I've met hundreds, perhaps thousands, of visitors. Most of them have asked me many questions regarding Tofino, mostly the same type of questions, such as: what to do, where to surf, how to get to Meares.
Being in tune with people, I began to realize that many seemed completely lost when they arrive in Tofino! This is what gave me the idea of the book. I brought this up with my friend Joe Praveen Sequeira, and he said this is brilliant let's do it! And so this idea was born. I've put in a lot of time and effort into this as I know it will prove a valuable resource for future visitors coming into Tofino.
Well we did it! Welcome to Tofino! Come see from my eyes as a tourist turned resident and the eyes of many locals.
I hope you enjoy Tofino as much as I do and enjoy this book.

Kait Fennell is a permanent resident of Tofino who finds herself more at home in the water than anywhere else. An islander at heart, she has traveled all over the world - from flying and developing pilot guide books in the Okavango Delta, Botswana to volunteering for a small pilot school in Durban, South Africa. Recognized as a National Garfield Weston Foundation Scholar, and graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Technology with a Commercial Pilot License, she left her aviation roots to pursue her passion for surfing, healthy living, the environment and indigenous culture.
