Greetings!

I would like to thank you in advance for taking your time out to read and discover the richness of the voices of women veteran across the nation. I am Sgt. Stephanie J. Shannon a woman veteran that has experienced living 20 years undiagnosed with P.T.S.D., Post Traumatic Stress Disorder caused by M.S.T., Military Sexual Trauma and the G.W.I., Gulf War Illness. I can attest to the many challenges that veterans in particularly the women veteran population face upon their return from war. 

I wrote my war memoir, "Battling the Storm Within" #1 Amazon best-selling book about my life experiences in order to bring awareness to the many issues veterans face and how to heal from trauma, recover all and live again. 
My war memoir provided me with a voice that could not be silenced, far too long have women veterans been silent about our military experiences. It's now time for us to speak. My 20 plus years' journey of experiencing trauma, healing and restoration caused me to discover that sharing my story, my truth with the world was so liberating and empowering. I just had to share what I gained with other woman veterans and the world. I discovered the dire needs of women veterans were far greater than I anticipated, so I established a faith-based 501c3 nonprofit organization, 
 
Michigan Women Veterans Empowerment to provide a platform to empower women veterans effectively in the 8 dimensions of wellness; spiritual, social, environmental,emotional, occupational, intellectual financial, and physical aspects of their lives.  
At MWVE, we seek to bring awareness to the many issues women veterans face and provide solutions, engage women veterans in conversations and build relationships, provide professional high quality speakers and panel discussions that will evoke change in the mindset of women veterans, showcase women veterans' gifts, talents and abilities, support and encourage women veterans in every area of their lives, provide an opportunity for women veterans to network, receive education, and connect to their community resources, empower  women veterans that have served or are currently serving through networking,career and professional development and mentorship, equip women veterans with the tools to pursue a rewarding career, empower women veterans who want to become entrepreneurs, encourage women veterans through mentorship. 

We help strengthen the sisters in arms bond between women veterans, develop and maintain a strong community of women veteran supporters, and to educate the community about the lives of women that have served in the military.
