Question: How quickly can a child learn to read?
The answer? In much less time than most people think. In fact, children can become 'functionally literate' in only a few short months.
Consider this: just 25 most commonly used words make up about one-third of all words written or spoken in English. The first 100 most frequently used words make up about half of all written and spoken English.
These are the most important words when it comes to understanding and creating correct English sentences - and they can be learned in just a few short reading sessions!
Additionally, the first 1,000 most commonly used words makeup more than 99% of all written and spoken English. By using these enjoyable, simple and easy-to-use books, you can guide your child's learning so that they will easily master these crucial key words and most important structures in just a few months.
By drawing on his more than 40 years experience in teaching children to read, teacher and author Philip Gibson has produced what may be the most comprehensive, systematic and effective series of simplified early readers ever produced.

Teacher and author Philip Gibson has more than 35 years' experience teaching English to children and adults in 7 countries.
After graduating from teacher training college in 1974, Philip spent the next 35+ years travelling the world teaching English to children and adults of all nationalities. He now lives in Laos where, for the past 12 years, he has been researching, writing, trialing and improving his Word by Word series of illustrated, graded readers for English-speaking children learning to read and children learning English as a second or foreign language.
All the books in the series have been extensively researched, trialed, improved and taught to many groups and individuals, including Philip's own children. He is now digitizing the entire series in order to make the series globally available for the first time in both ebook and paperback formats.
