Often, most people wouldn't have a clue as to what social marketing is about. Most confuse it with social media or suggest it is the little brother to health promotion. Social marketing derives from two distinct movements: marketing and social sciences. Moreover, its intent is to drive mass voluntary behavior change for social good! Social marketing is still in its infancy and unfortunately, most campaigns have not appropriately segmented the target audience nor adequately identified the desired behavior change. This has opened the door to for-profit organizations to enter the social marketing world. Early observation is that they are blazing the way forward! This indicates that it is the perfect time for the social marketing industry to be disrupted!
