About the Author

A landscape painter and illustrator, Mary Pat Ettinger works in a contemporary style with acrylic on canvas. Light and shadow are implicit to her work in addition to a strong sense of design and shape. Working with acrylic washes and combining both spontaneous flows of colour as well as tightly controlled edges, her work expresses both warm strength and a serene sense of the goodness and hope in life. Influenced deeply by the rural area she lives in, Mary Pat’s works often reflect the organic nature of man-made structures being embraced by the landscape. Mary Pat trained early under an Italian artist in oils, and then studied at Laguna Beach School of Art and Chapman College. Her award winning works are represented by the Center for the Visual Arts in Steamboat Springs, Yampa Valley Fiber Works of Craig, Ago Gallery in Ouray and Arts at Denver Gallery in Denver. She has illustrated several books, as well as designed cards for Portal Publications and Crown Point Graphics. She was a finalist in the Art Steamboat 2014 – a five state regional art competition. Mary Pat lives with her husband in western Colorado surrounded by pastures and farm animals and more fruit trees than they can keep up with.
