Synopsis

This time it's not Rosco who's making mischief, it's the leprechauns. When Rosco's buddy, Sparks the pug, goes missing, Rosco and the kids set out to find him, embarking on adventures through the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. At the same time, Mandy thinks the leprechauns have jinxed her with bad luck because she broke with tradition and didn’t build them a leprechaun trap filled with treasure this year.

Will brother and sister be able to restore Mandy’s good luck, or will the leprechauns ruin her St. Patrick’s Day? And will Rosco and the kids find Sparks before it's too late? Find out in this heartwarming, family adventure, full of ancient Irish lore and contemporary, big-city parade fun.

In Rosco the Rascal at the St.Patrick's Day Parade: Rosco theRascal #4 by Shana Gorian, readers see James and his sister,Mandy, going to the St. Patrick's Day Parade with their dog, Rosco. They also have their neighbor's dog, Sparks, with them so that each of themhas a dog to hold. Sparks goes missing while they are at the parade.Mandy feels that since she did not make the Leprechaun trap for school, bad luck seems to be affecting her. Rosco is enjoying the parade as thedogs are all dressed up and it is a sight to see. Will they be able tofind Sparks? Let us find out.

The story has been woven around St. Patrick's Day in a clever way so that children learn about Irishlegends and folklore without feeling bored. The concept of theLeprechaun trap is quite fascinating. The author captures the festiveambiance of the parade beautifully with her words and illustrations, which take young readers right into the parade and they experience it as if they were there. The black and white illustrations are just enoughto captivate readers and make the parade feel real. It is a goodstorybook to read out to children at home and in the classroom as itintroduces them to Irish folklore, culture, and the Leprechaun jinx. The story is fun, enjoyable, adventurous, and informative to readers, bothyoung and old. The wee bit of Irish wisdom shared at the end of the book is also quite interesting and will make readers curious to learn evenmore about Irish folklore, culture, and legends.
