Roy McWeeny is Professore Emerito di Chimica Teorica, Universita di Pisa. A student of Charles Coulson at the Univerity of Oxford in the late 1940s, McWeeny has had a distinguished academic career being Professor of Theoretical Physics and Theoretical Chemistry at the University of Keele, Professor of Theoretical Chemistry at the University of Sheffield and then in Pisa.He has published numerous research papers and several academic texts including "Symmetry: an introduction to group theory and its applications", "Methods of Molecular Quantum Mechanics" and "Coulson's Valence". He is an editor of the major reference work "Handbook of Molecular Physics and Quantum Chemistry".
