Willow of the Wind has everything to live for, and yet she is retreating into a shell of her own making. With each breath, Snow Eagle, her long lost love, watches her pull further away from him and the happiness they yearned for. The chief and his warriors, with Willow’s help, have located the slave trader’s lair. Memories of being brutalized there are unbearable for Willow, but she forces herself to face the past and swallow her fears. She must rescue the woman being held hostage before she is lost to them. The war party discovers the plantation isn’t what it appears to be. They uncover a lifestyle that tempts Willow’s son, and threatens to change their tribal way of life forever.

About the Author:
About the Author Kathy Love Cowen was born and raised in Kansas; she attended Baker University in Baldwin, Kansas, as an art major. It was the encouragement of her son, Wesley Love, a Purple Heart veteran of two wars, that prompted Kathy to begin researching their Native American ancestors. Her research eventually provided the background material for The Walking Stick. In her youth, Kathy spent a great deal of time on her Aunt Maude’s cattle ranch in Oklahoma. A feisty woman who would spin stories of their “Indian” ancestors, Maude had a profound influence on young Kathy. Chewahnih and Isaac Nicholson, the main Cherokee characters of The Walking Stick, are Kathy’s 5th great-grandparents. Animals have also played an important role in Kathy’s life; she believes that her unusual empathy with her fur-bearing friends is linked to her Cherokee heritage. The depth of her perception into their unique personalities becomes apparent in the humorous secondary characters woven into The Walking Stick, which has grown into a three-book series encompassing three generations. A fourth book is slated for late 2018; future books are planned to continue the series up to the present day. In addition to writing, Kathy takes great pleasure in oil painting. She and her husband Al enjoy entertaining family and friends at their beachside home in Galveston, Texas.
