Synopsis

Wealth Beyond Riches tells the story of a dedicated father and mother of ten children living in the mid 1900's. The story is reminiscent of the Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House books except that the setting takes place a century later and in the state of Maine, not in the Midwest. I gathered facts of actual events from siblings still living as well as my oldest sister who passed away in 2014. Having a large family created problems and challenges which most families, at that time, avoided. My parents were not able to purchase a home until after five of us ten children were born. Many "modern" conveniences enjoyed by most families came much later in our lives. The real heroes are my parents who sacrificially gave all they had for their kids. If they were still living, however, they would give all the praise to their Savior and guide, Jesus Christ.

About the Author

I spent four years in college and groaned every time a writing assignment for English composition was required.  Although I read a great deal then, the reading was limited to academics.  Only after I graduated did I begin to read for enjoyment.  I married and bore three children who were my joy.  I read to them daily and loved every moment of being with them sharing books.  About nine years ago I wrote my first book about an incident which frightened our two grandsons.  Thus Monster in the Wall came into being, and I shared that book with them.   A few years after that, I longed to recall my early years living a simple life in Maine with 9 siblings and began research on my book Wealth Beyond Riches.  I felt the values of compassion, hard work, family loyalty and faith ingrained in us kids were important for kids of this age to learn about and apply to their lives.  I believe that I succeeded in relaying those values in my book.
