Synopsis

A slave trader met his Creator and God. And since then, his life was never the same. The haunting of past memories was soothed by the balm of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but has modeled Newton's life so deep that his life would became a never-ending story of Amazing Grace. This book presents John Newton's autobiography in a set of fourteen letters wrote to his friend Thomas Haweis back in the 18th century. A life-transforming book. John Newton (1725–1807) was an English Anglican preacher and the founder of the Evangelical Clapham Sect. Prior to his conversion, he was sailor in the British Royal Navy, and later a captain of slave trade ships. He is best known for the hymns he wrote, especially for Amazing Grace and How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds. This book has been originally published in 1764. Current edition has been proofread, typeset for eBook readers, and slightly updated for modern readers.

Softcover. Condition: Good. The popular story of John Newton's conversion focuses way too much these days on his being converted from a slave trader, but his true story is way a lot more amazing and surprising. He meets His Creator, God, and Savior after so many dangers andperils, on the sea and on land, that no reader can miss noticing the providence of God in keeping him until the day of his conversion. And after that. All the painful memories of his past have played a tremendous role in his soul being wonderfully healed through the balm of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, so that his whole life can rightly be said to be a unique story of amazing grace. This book consists of John Newton's autobiography using a set of fourteen breathtaking letters written later in his life to his good friend, Thomas Haweis. You have in your hands a soul transforming book, showing the power of God and the work of His amazing grace in one of the monuments of divine mercy.John Newton (1725-1807) was an Anglican preacher and founder of the Evangelical Clapham Sect.
