Synopsis

About the Author
William Bell holds a Masters of Arts degree in Literature and a Master of Education degree. Bell's Young Adult novels have been translated into nine languages and have won a number of awards, among them the Ruth Schwartz Award for Excellence (Forbidden City), the Belgium Award for Excellence (Forbidden City), the Manitoba Young Readers' Choice Award (Five Days of the Ghost), the Mr. Christie's Award (Zack), and the Canadian Librarian's Association Award (Stones).

As in other works from this genre, such as Harry Mazer's "Snowbound," nature is the equalizing force that pares the individual down to the soul before beginning the rebuilding, and in some cases, the healing process.
