' Margaret Fleming was born in Scotland and educated in Winnipeg (1921). A physically active student, her teacher training allowed the autonomy and time to be an active adult. Along with friends Polly Prescott, Barbara McCord, and Edna Greer the mountains and trails of the Banff area became her (life long) focus. Her sister Hilda accompanied her on some offshore adventures - see Kashmir, Austria, and Switzerland. 206 pages, including INDEX, taken from Fleming's extensive travel diaries. Assisted by many b/w photographs.Some alpine region maps. Cond : Paper wrapper is dark green with white lettering. Front cover b/w photograph shows Fleming, Greer, and Marjorie Macleod atop Mount Cheops - circa 1929. Minimal wear to fore corners. No names, marks, creases, nor tears. Book store sticker - verso front cover. Bright, tight, and collectible ! ! Quote (p. 39) : "Most of the time we had lazy days but did a little climbing. She was the first woman editor of the celebrated Canadian Alpine Journal, but her own stories remained unpublished. She sought beauty, serenity, and the art of idling.
