Geographically, Ontario is the largest province in Canada, with a seniors' population exceeding 1.3 million persons. These seniors are divers in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, socio-economic status, geographical location and health. About the Author:

Wendy L. Maurier spent 12 years working as an Emergency nurse in the City of Edmonton. During her nursing career, Wendy received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of Alberta. Wendy is presently completing a Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of Alberta. Herbert C. Northcott received a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1976. He is currently a professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Alberta, where he specializes in the sociology of aging and the sociology of health and illness. He is the co-author of Aging in British Columbia and the author of Aging in Alberta.
