In this new collection of stories, Radu's characters are bowled over by their glimpse of the ineffable. The author himself looks askance at his characters as they find themselves troubled by the very nature of reality-doubting the evidence of their own eyes. An adventurous and surprising collection.
Kenneth Radu's first book of stories, The Cost of Living, was a finalist for the 1988 Governor General's Award for Fiction. His first novel, Distant Relations, won the 1989 QSPELL Fiction Prize and was short-listed for the Books in Canada/W.H. Smith Fist Novel Award. A Private Performance, which the Toronto Star called "a collection of sparkling gems," won the 1991 QSPELL Fiction Prize. Radu's second novel, Home Fires, was published in 1992. His new novel, Strange and Familiar Places, will be published in April 1999.
