Finding the Balance allows students to explore science and ecology concepts through close interaction with the environment as well as an understanding of the complex nature of environmental issues. It challenges students to explore attitudes and values, in addition to possible solutions and likely consequences. The text is organized into three basic study units: Basic Ecological Concepts, Local Environmental issues, and Global Environmental issues. Finding the Balance is written in an informative, user-friendly format designed to appeal to a wide-range of student interests. The focus on activity and resource-based instruction provides plenty of material to challenge both the science and non-science student. The text is accompanied by comprehensive teaching and field notes to guide the teacher with instructional strategies and options. Finding the Balance - For Earth’s Sake is a current and pedagogically sound resource to assist students in the development of the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to sustain a healthy environment for the future. The resource book provides the teacher with the necessary support to ensure the most effective utilization of the book.
