About the Author

Originally from large cities in England, Andrea and David Spalding developed a love of animals and a longing for wide open spaces. After Andrea trained as a teacher and David studied to be a geologist, they moved to Canada in 1967 to pursue their interests. Since then, they have worked in a variety of areas including the natural sciences, archaeology and history, heritage and tourism planning, education, music and storytelling, and have been active in media.

Andrea and David have published numerous children's and nature books. She has been short-listed twice for Silver Birch awards as well as being a finalist in a CBC writing competition. David has written, co-written, or edited ten books mostly on science for adults, with recent books about dinosaurs and whales.
